A judge has ruled that Andrea Brown, a former communications director at Lockheed Martin, was retaliated against after she filed a whistleblower complaint against the company in 2008 under the federal Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

The judge ruled that Lockheed Martin should reinstate Brown to her previous position and that she should receive the salary and benefits that she lost upon being fired.

Brown filed a lawsuit against Lockheed Martin after she was forced out of her job in 2006 for reporting that her boss, Wendy Owen, a former communications president, had sent sex toys packed in a Cheez-It box to a soldier in Iraq that she was romantically involved with as part of the company’s now-defunct ‘Pen Pal’ program. 

Lockheed Martin spokesman Keith Mordoff said that the company continues to believe that the claims are without merit and that it will appeal the judge’s decision.
