Big Lots settles EEOC sexual harassent and retaliation lawsuit

Big Lots Inc. has agreed to pay $50,000 to a former employee to settle an EEOC lawsuit charging the retailer with sexual harassment and retaliation at its Lufkin, Texas store.

The employee, Michelle Pritchard, claimed that she was subjected to a sexually hostile work environment in which the Lufkin store’s general manager forcibly had unwanted sex with her in the store on two occassions in November 2006.

Pritchard alleged that her manager’s verbal abuse continued and that her working hours were cut in retaliation after he discovered that Pritchard filed a complaint with Big Lots about the sexual harassment.
