A former employee has filed a complaint with the EEOC accusing St. Tammany Coroner Peter Galvan of racial and sexual harassment and retaliation.
Laura King, who was hired on June 30, 2008 as a forensic laboratory manager, claims that she complained to St. Tammany Assistant District Attorney Jack Hoffstadt about the sexual harassment. Hoffstadt told King that he would speak with Galvan about her complaints.
King alleges that she was fired on August 25, 2009 shortly after her conversation with Hoffstadt in retaliation for complaining to the Assistant District Attorney. King had not received any negative performance evaluations or disciplinary actions regarding unsatisfactory job performance while employed at the St. Tammany coroner’s office.
